Proportionality
Essential Question: What kinds of relationships can proportions represent?

Equivalence
Essential Question: Can equations that appear to be different be equivalent?

Solving Equations & Inequalities
Essential Question: How can you solve equations?

Lesson/Objective Supplemental Lessons On-line Practice Homework
2-1  Solving One-Step Equations

Objective:  To use algebra tiles to model and solve single-variable, one-step equations

ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING: Equivalent equations are equations that have the same solution(s). In lessons 2-1 thru 2-5, students learn to use the properties of equality and inverse operations to find equivalent equations, and thus, solutions.

2-7  Solving Proportions

Objective: To solve and apply proportions

ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING: If two ratios are equal and a quantity in one of the ratios is unknown, the unknown quantity can be found by writing and solving a proportion.

Solving a proportion using "cross-multiplication" is really just like using the Multiplication Property of Equality twice.
